On 22 October, the Cheltenham Business Summit took place at the Queens Hotel Cheltenham, in collaboration with The Cheltenham Growth Hub, Cheltenham BID, Cheltenham Chamber of Commerce, Cheltenham Borough Council, Marketing Cheltenham, and Together Gloucestershire.
A variety of businesses attended to learn about our newly developed accreditation system, designed to assist organisations, both large and small, in their journey toward achieving net zero emissions.
This event was particularly exciting as it marked the official launch of PathZero, an accreditation system tailored for small and medium enterprises in Gloucestershire.
PathZero has been designed to help businesses identify their emission sources and provide a practical approach to reducing them.
Developed in partnership with the Gloucestershire Climate Leadership Group, this online platform aims to simplify the journey to net zero. It guides businesses through a step-by-step process that includes measuring their baseline, setting targets, and ultimately following their roadmap. This initiative is government-funded and designed by CheltenhamZero.
Businesses start by committing to the net zero journey at the Member level. To achieve Bronze, members must measure their baseline and set targets, and silver is attained once they create an action plan to reduce their emissions.
The PathZero website, designed and created by Agnikii Digital, is also hosted on 100% renewable energy and produces around 0.04g of CO2 per visitor, and is 91% cleaner than the global average. The site has been modelled using the industry-standard Sustainable Web Design model version 4 (Website Carbon).
Isobel Filipova, business initiative manager for CheltenhamZero, said: “We are thrilled to launch PathZero and to see so many businesses attending the summit and eager to sign up for decarbonisation.
“This accreditation will revolutionise how small and medium businesses report and track their emissions, providing a structured and realistic approach to achieving net zero.” And future proofing their business, enabling them to grow and thrive
Councillor Richard Pineger, cabinet member for the climate emergency, said: “PathZero is an incredible initiative from CheltenhamZero that will make decarbonisation as straightforward as possible for businesses committed to showcasing their emissions reductions.”
