Tips Reminds Us Why Neutering Matters!
A few weeks ago, Tips arrived in our care in our care with a premature new born kitten, unfortunately Tips was still in labour, but was struggling with the birthing process.
Our team acted immediately to get her the urgent veterinary care she needed. Thanks to the incredible work of the veterinary hospital, Tips underwent an emergency caesarean and became the mum of two tiny kittens.
Sadly, this story does not have the ending we hoped for.
The kittens were born extremely weak and required round-the-clock care, including hourly feeds and constant monitoring.
Despite everyone’s efforts, one kitten passed away within the first few days. Heartbreakingly, the second kitten died shortly afterwards.
While Tips survived and continues to recover here at CDCH, her story is a painful reminder of why prevention matters.
The emergency surgery, hospitalisation, and intensive care also came at a significant financial cost for a small charity like ours, with veterinary bills exceeding £3,000.
Today, Tips is safe and recovering, but her story is one of many that has left a lasting impact on everyone who cares for cats in need.
Stories like hers are a stark reminder of why neutering is so important, not only to prevent unwanted litters, but to spare cats from the risks and complications that can come with pregnancy and birth.
