With more than 30 years’ experience growing businesses as an owner, investor, chairman and mentor, John Caines brings a wealth of practical insight into what it really takes to build, lead and sustain a successful business.

For this Leader Boardroom, John will share some of the lessons he has learned along the way, from navigating growth and making difficult decisions to developing people, building strong leadership teams and knowing when to step forward, step back or change direction.

The conversation will explore the realities behind business growth: the successes, the challenges and, importantly, the things John might do differently with the benefit of hindsight. We’ll look at how the role of a leader changes as a business evolves, why self-awareness matters, and what it means to take a longer-term view when so much of business can feel focused on the here and now.

John is also the author of The Effective Entrepreneur: A Practical Guide to Leadership and Management of Others and Self, which brings together many of the principles and experiences that have shaped his approach to business and leadership. He is currently updating the book, giving us a timely opportunity to explore which lessons have stood the test of time and what he believes needs to change for today’s entrepreneurs and business leaders.
