Premier Forest Specialist Joinery is currently recruiting for a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join our growing commercial team in Newport.

Our business specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke joinery products for a wide range of commercial developments. Our portfolio includes projects across hotels, care homes, hospitals, schools and residential developments throughout the UK.

What you will be doing…
You will be responsible for supporting the commercial team with the financial and contractual management of bespoke joinery projects, while developing the skills and knowledge required to progress your career in Quantity Surveying.

Daily duties will include: 

• Assisting with the preparation of quotations and tenders.
• Measuring quantities from technical and architectural drawings.
• Learning to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Supporting cost planning and budgeting activities.
• Assisting with valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors and project managers.
• Maintaining accurate project cost records and documentation.
• Helping to ensure projects are delivered within budget.

What we are looking for…

• A genuine interest in pursuing a career in Quantity Surveying and the construction industry.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability.
• Confidence using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
• A flexible and proactive approach, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.

Essential…

• GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English (Grade 5/C or above preferred).
• Full UK driving license, or currently working towards obtaining one.

Desirable…

• A-Level, BTEC or collegequalification in Construction, Engineering, Maths or Business.
• An interest in joinery, woodworking or construction.
• Previous construction or manufacturing experience (not essential).
