Job Description

Purpose of the Role
Responsible for managing day-to-day site operations, ensuring health and safety compliance, and delivering projects on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality.

Implement the Barnwood operating standards including health, safety, quality and risk management. To promote the Barnwood values to all stakeholders.

Reporting to: Contracts Managers & Construction Director

Based at: Variety of site locations

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning and Coordination:

  • Plan and coordinate all on-site construction activities.
  • Liaise with contracts managers, engineers, architects, and surveyors.
  • Interpret drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Prepare site logistics plans and ensure efficient resource allocation.
  • Maintain consistent use of Procure across all phases of the project

Site Supervision:

  • Manage day-to-day operations on site.
  • Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, tradespeople, and labourers.
  • For directly employed site operatives, ensure time sheet is accurately completed and authorised.
  • Monitor work progress and address any issues that may cause delays.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
  • Ensure all site operatives complete a site induction prior to commencing work, and that signing-in records are accurately maintained

Health & Safety Compliance:

  • Enforce health and safety procedures and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Ensure all site personnel comply with legal and regulatory safety requirements, this includes PPE requirements
  • Report and investigate incidents, accidents, or near misses.
  • Respond promptly to incidents requiring first aid, ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures.

Resource Management:

  • Ensure materials, equipment, and labour are available as needed.
  • Track usage and delivery of materials to avoid shortages or delays.
  • Maintain inventory control of any equipment and site security.

Communication and Reporting:

  • Provide regular updates to the Contracts Manager and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records, including daily site diaries, safety logs, and attendance.
  • Attend site meetings as required.

Quality Control:

  • Ensure all work is carried out to the highest standards and in compliance with specifications.
  • Identify and correct any deviations or defects in workmanship or materials.
