About the role

Are you a skilled tradesperson ready to take your career to the next level? Join Cheltenham Borough Council’s Housing Services as a Senior Multi Skilled Operative and become part of a team that’s committed to delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance across our housing stock.
What You’ll Be Doing:
• Carrying out a wide range of multi-trade repairs in both occupied and unoccupied homes.
• Delivering high standards in carpentry, plumbing (non-gas), roofing, bricklaying, and general building works.
• Supporting junior tradespeople, trainees, and apprentices with guidance and training.
• Ensuring safe, efficient, and customer-focused service delivery.
• Using a PDA to manage tasks and communicate effectively with the team.
• Contributing to safeguarding and tailored services for vulnerable tenants.
What We’re Looking For:
• Proven experience in multi-trade work.
• Strong knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Confidence using digital tools (e.g., PDA).
• A proactive, professional attitude aligned with our organisational values: Own it, Think ‘Nolan’, Develop our learning, Think future.
Desirable Extras:
• Experience in social housing.
• CSCS card holder.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and undertake further training.
