Help us keep Cheltenham’s communities clean, safe and welcoming. We’re looking for a practical, reliable Estate Operative to join our Housing Services team and make a real difference to residents every day.
What you’ll do
• Clean communal areas across our flats
• Carry out carpet, window and food waste bin cleaning
• Remove fly tipping and waste that poses fire risks
• Test and record monthly emergency lighting checks
• Report hazards, defects and tenancy breaches
• Use a PDA to record jobs, evidence and vehicle checks
• Work safely with waste, sharps and equipment
What you’ll bring
• A full UK driving licence
• Experience with manual handling
• Confidence working indoors and outdoors
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly
• Accuracy when recording information
• Awareness of Health & Safety and safeguarding
Experience in cleaning or relevant training is helpful but not essential.

About the role

Cheltenham Borough Council is looking for a Planning Validation Officer to join our Planning team on a fixed term contract until the end of November. This role is essential in ensuring planning applications are accurate, complete and processed efficiently.
What you’ll do
• Validate planning applications and check submissions against national and local requirements.
• Request missing information and issue invalid notices where needed.
• Calculate and receipt application fees.
• Identify and consult statutory consultees and neighbours.
• Provide advice to applicants on validation requirements and whether permission is needed.
• Maintain accurate records and support monitoring of incoming applications.
What you’ll bring
• GCSEs (5 A–C or equivalent), including Maths and English.
• Experience working with complex data.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Good understanding of planning processes or willingness to learn.
• Confident IT skills and clear communication.
• Ability to manage changing priorities and meet deadlines.
Additional information
• Occasional work at other locations may be required.
• Some additional hours may be needed.
