Environmental Health Officer (Environmental Protection)

Job Description

Help shape a cleaner, healthier Cheltenham. We’re looking for a motivated Environmental Health Officer to join our Environmental Protection team and protect public health across the borough.

The post will be appointed at Technical Officer or Environmental Health Officer level, depending on your qualifications and experience. We welcome applications from graduates working towards registration and from experienced officers.

You will help us improve an important service that supports the environment and the local economy. The work is varied and includes home working, visits and inspections. You will work well with others, communicate clearly, and take initiative.

Appointment level (based on qualifications and experience):
We are looking for someone with an accredited Environmental Health degree (or a related subject). We will consider candidates working towards full registration, as well as fully qualified and registered Environmental Health Officers with regulatory experience. Where appropriate, we can support you to work towards full registration.

To be successful you will need…

· An accredited Environmental Health degree (or equivalent), or a related degree with relevant knowledge.
· Regulatory experience is helpful, but not essential. If you are working towards registration, we may be able to support you to complete it.
· Ability to travel
