Benefit & Money Advisor – FTC
Job Description
We’re looking for a motivated and compassionate colleague to join our Benefit and Money Advice (BMA) team on a 12 month fixed term contract. The service works with our communities to maximise household income and promote financial capability and independence, and this role is central to that mission.
What you’ll do
• Support customers with benefit claims, “better off” calculations, and appeals
• Explain benefit legislation and official letters in a clear, accessible way
• Help households with cost of living pressures, including food and utility support
• Work with Income Officers to reduce rent arrears and sustain tenancies
• Host benefit surgeries and carry out home visits
• Verify evidence for schemes such as Help2, foodbank or utility vouchers
• Provide reports and statistics to demonstrate service impact
What you’ll bring
• Experience in a finance or benefit related role
• Strong knowledge of welfare benefits and welfare reform
• Excellent IT skills (MS Office, Excel)
• Ability to manage your own caseload and work proactively
• Clear, confident communication skills
• High accuracy, attention to detail, and a caring approach
