Who we are:

Lease Electric is an independent vehicle finance and leasing broker based in Gloucestershire, helping businesses and individuals transition to electric cars and vans through leasing, company vehicle schemes and salary sacrifice. Founded by Richard in 2020 as Fleet Electric, the business drew on his experience and relationships across the leasing industry, OLEV, the Department for Transport and EV charging manufacturers. In April 2024, it rebranded to Lease Electric to reflect a stronger commitment to accessible EV leasing and climate-positive impact.

As the UK’s first Climate Positive Leasing Service, Lease Electric supports the shift to electric vehicles, helping organisations cut Scope 1 and Scope 3 emissions and address transport’s significant contribution to UK greenhouse gases. By partnering with all mainstream vehicle manufacturers and a tailored panel of funders, we help businesses and individuals transition to the vehicles best suited to them.

Building on our sponsorship of the 2025 CSR category in the C2S Business Awards, becoming an official partner was a natural next step. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to supporting the business community, driving positive change and inspiring progress through collaboration. What we do:

Transport is the UK’s largest source of greenhouse gas emissions, making up 29% of total domestic emissions in 2023. Of this, road vehicles are responsible for 89%.

The shift towards electric vehicles is seen as a significant step in the right direction. At Lease Electric, our Climate Positive Leasing Service, supports the adoption of electric cars and vans through leasing, taking additional steps to ensure we have a positive impact on our climate.

Our climate-positive leasing service helps reduce your carbon footprint by offsetting the emissions generated during EV production. We do this by investing in Verified Carbon Standard and Gold Standard projects, around the world, and by planting 100 trees for every vehicle we lease, covering twice the carbon emitted over the vehicle’s entire lifetime.

Richard Markey

Managing Director

After nearly a decade at Mitsubishi Motors, where he progressed to Head of Product Planning and UK/EU Vehicle Homologation, Richard launched Fleet Electric in 2020 with the goal of creating the UK’s first Climate Positive Leasing Service. Building on strong relationships with the Government’s Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV), the Department for Transport (DfT) and leading EV charging manufacturers, he brings a unique depth of expertise to advising businesses and accelerating the uptake of electric cars and vans.

Five years on, Richard has grown the team and continues to support businesses and individuals in their transition to electric vehicles, championing the principles of climate positive leasing. Beyond Lease Electric, he serves as a Director of the family-run Markey Group and sits on the board of Smiths Rugby.

Lee Bowtell

EV Sales and Leasing Consultant

Lee is our EV Sales and Leasing Consultant, helping businesses and individuals shift to electric cars and vans through leasing options, company vehicles, and salary sacrifice schemes. With a strong sales background, he brings extensive knowledge and experience to the team.

Passionate about Salary Sacrifice, Lee champions it as an affordable way to make EVs accessible to more people. He supports businesses in enabling their employees to enjoy the benefits of electric driving.

Lee plays a key role in Lease Electric’s growth, providing dedicated support to customers adopting electric vehicles through our Climate Positive Leasing Service.

Chloe Bushell

Digital Marketing Executive

Chloe is our Marketing Executive (extraordinaire), equipping the team with the best marketing tools to showcase Lease Electric, our diverse EV range and support our customers. She keeps customers up to date on industry news, tax incentives and the latest leasing offers.

Chloe also leads our events, championing brand visibility and delivering accessible EV education and opportunities to our Business Community, alongside working to support and fundraise for our Charity of the year 4ed.
