YMCA Cheltenham commemorated its 170-year legacy with a gala dinner at Cheltenham Town Hall, kindly gifted by The Cheltenham Trust. With 155 attendees, the evening was a celebration of our remarkable journey and the vibrant community that has supported us throughout the years.

The evening, themed “This is OUR Life,” was a gathering of supporters, volunteers, employees, members, partners, and community leaders. Upon arrival, guests were invited to explore a pop-up art installation by local artist Stella Ashmeade. This personal and immersive exhibit poignantly highlighted the stark realities of homelessness. Attendees then embarked on a historical journey through our YMCA Cheltenham history walk, where they could view artifacts, images, and stories spanning our 170-year heritage.

Our superb compere for the evening was the incredible Nick Gazzard OBE and guest speakers included Reverend Tim Welch and Joseph R. Main our CEO. Guest were treated to a fun, interactive quiz with a trophy for the winners. The evening also gave us the opportunity to showcase our latest video which reflects our remarkable history and the communities we support right here, in Gloucestershire.

Honouring a Legacy: Peter Worsley

The evening also paid tribute to Peter Worsley, who was presented with an outstanding contribution award. In a heartfelt speech, Peter encapsulated the essence of our organisation’s journey. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make this event possible, including HeadOn PR, The Cheltenham Trust, Stella Ashmeade, Clavell & Hind, and the talented performers Tux Fizz and the Funki Feathers Flash Mob.

More than just a celebration, this gala dinner was a testament to the enduring spirit and legacy of YMCA Cheltenham. We are deeply grateful to all who joined us for this milestone moment. Thank you for being a part of our journey.
