Stroud-based charity The Nelson Trust, has marked its 40th anniversary with two sold-out Women in Leadership events, bringing together women from across the region to share experiences and champion the role of women leading social and economic change.
Now a highlight in the charity’s calendar, this year’s events once again created space for honest conversation and practical insight, while raising nearly £10,000 to support people affected by trauma, substance use and multiple unmet needs.
Speakers from across business and community life shared reflections on leadership, growth and resilience, sparking discussion among guests and reinforcing the power of women supporting women.
“In our 40th year, creating opportunities where women share leadership experiences and build connections is more important than ever. I’ve seen over the years that these events aren’t just conversations, they go on to create genuine collaboration and tangible impact.”
– Andy Jarrett, Events and Corporate Lead, The Nelson Trust
After two consecutive sell-outs, the next Women in Leadership event is confirmed for 18 June 2026. This event is open to everybody, and tickets include welcome drinks and a two-course BBQ meal.

About – Founded in 1985 near Stroud, The Nelson Trust is a charity supporting long-term recovery for people affected by substance use and multiple unmet needs. We offer abstinence-based residential rehabilitation, combining therapeutic support with practical help around housing, education, training, and employment.
In 2004, we launched a women-only residential service, followed by our award-winning Women’s Centre in Gloucester in 2010. Today, we operate nine Women’s Centres across the South West and Wales, providing trauma-informed support for women facing multiple vulnerabilities, including risk of offending. Our centres offer immediate help with issues such as relationships, housing, domestic abuse, health, debt and employment.
Our Vision – A world where both the causes and consequences of multiple disadvantages are understood, effectively tackled, and ultimately eliminated.
Our Mission – We bring belief, hope, and long-term recovery to lives affected by substance use and multiple disadvantages.
