- Free family fun for children and young people of all ages
- Wednesday 5 August at Pittville Park
- Quiet hour from 10am to 11am with activities open for all 11am to 4pm and performances until 5pm
Families are invited to come along to Pittville Park on Wednesday 5 August for a free day of fun, as No Child Left Behind’s (NCLB) Party in the Park returns for a third time this summer.
The event will begin with a quiet hour from 10am, offering a calm start for those who would benefit from a quieter environment, with suitable activities available during this time. The full programme of free activities will run from 11am-4pm for everyone to enjoy, led by local organisations, with live music, dance and theatre performances from children and young people continuing until 5pm.
There will be four zones across the park on both sides of Evesham Road from the Pump Room to the Prince of Wales Stadium, with different activities in each area. Last year’s event featured circus skills, BMX and skating, creative arts sessions, inflatables, a climbing wall, and a variety of physical activities. Many of these are planned to return for this year’s event.
Last year’s event also provided free healthy meals for around 950 eligible children thanks to funding from Gloucestershire County Council’s Holiday Activity and Food Scheme (HAF), the intention is to provide free meals again. There will also be an advice village for families, to access support and guidance from local community organisations.
Councillor Victoria Atherstone, cabinet member for safety and communities, said: “Party in the Park is hugely popular with families of all age groups, visiting from across Cheltenham, to enjoy this special fun-filled day – where all activities are free! So, I am thrilled this wonderful event is returning this summer with the support our of fantastic partner network.
“This event wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of our amazing volunteers, who give their time to make sure families can enjoy a fantastic free day out. If you’d like to volunteer at this year’s NCLB event, we’d love to hear from you.”
We need sponsorship, free activity providers, food donations and volunteers to help run this event. If you can offer any of these, get in touch at nochildleftbehind@cheltenham.gov.uk.
