We’re delighted to welcome Tracey Amos to Hughes Paddison as a Senior Associate in our growing Family Team.
Tracey brings with her a wealth of experience, having spent the past 12 years at her previous firm and built a career in family law spanning more than three decades. She joins our team with extensive experience across all areas of family law and particularly enjoys helping with children’s matters.
For Tracey, joining Hughes Paddison marks the start of an exciting new chapter.
“Having been at my previous firm for 12 years, I felt it was time for me to experience a new challenge. I was drawn to HP because they have a highly regarded family team, which I am looking forward to becoming part of.”
A career built around helping people
Tracey’s career in family law began much earlier than many might expect. She started as a secretary in a family law department in 1995 and quickly discovered that she enjoyed the personal side of the work.
That interest led her to progress from secretary to fee earner through the CILEX route, qualifying as a Legal Executive in 2000. More than 30 years after first entering the profession, Tracey’s enthusiasm for family law remains as strong as ever.
“I enjoyed the personal side of family law so much that I decided to progress from secretary to fee earner,” she explains. “After all these years I still very much enjoy working in family law.”
Today, Tracey advises clients across a broad range of family matters, including divorce, financial settlements, children issues, cohabitation disputes and domestic abuse. While she enjoys the variety of family law, she has a particular interest in private law children matters.
A friendly, approachable and honest approach
Family law can be incredibly personal, and clients often come to a solicitor at a time when they are feeling uncertain about what lies ahead. For Tracey, creating a relationship where clients feel comfortable being open and honest is an essential part of her role.
She believes a good family lawyer needs to be able to connect with their clients, while also being honest about what can realistically be achieved.
“My approach to working with clients is to be friendly, approachable and honest.”
That combination of empathy and straight-talking advice is something Tracey believes can make a real difference to clients navigating a difficult period in their lives.
She particularly enjoys seeing how clients can change throughout the process and find a sense of confidence as they begin to move forward.
“I find it rewarding to see the positive transformation of a client throughout the process of their divorce.”
Joining our growing Family Team
Tracey joins a highly experienced Family Team, which is now the largest family law team in Gloucestershire.
She is looking forward to being part of a team where colleagues can share knowledge and experience, while also bringing her own expertise to the department.
“I am excited to be joining a very experienced and well-respected team,”
“I think that the experience of the team will broaden and strengthen my own skills and I hope that my own experience can be useful within the team.”
Her arrival further strengthens our ability to provide specialist, supportive advice to individuals and families across Gloucestershire and beyond.
A little bit about Tracey
Away from work, Tracey enjoys keeping busy and spending time with the people – and animals – that matter to her. She loves travelling, going to music concerts, watching football, reading and pottering on her allotment.
She also enjoys spending time with family, friends and countryside walks with their family dog.
After such a long career in family law, it’s clear that Tracey’s passion for helping people has only grown stronger. We’re delighted to have her join Hughes Paddison and look forward to the experience, knowledge and personality she brings to our Family Team.
