How Green Gourmet Turned Good Intentions Into Real Impact

Share:

About 4 years ago, Better Business, Better World was approached by Head of Innovation and Head of People from Stroud-based food innovation company, Green Gourmet. They were passionate about reducing their environmental impact and proving their business was truly values-led. But between running product and people teams, they didn’t have the time or structure to make it happen on their own.

That’s where my Better Business Accelerator came in – a simple, four-step framework built around B Corp standards that helps businesses turn purpose into measurable change.

When we started in 2021, Green Gourmet was doing great things for their people, but they had:

  1. No social or environmental company KPIs
  2. No staff training on sustainability
  3. No GHG tracking or reduction targets
  4. Lots of plastic packaging

Fast-forward a couple of years, and the transformation has been amazing. Together, we:

  • Set company-wide social & environmental KPIs
  • Introduced staff training and transparent financial sharing
  • Equalised parental leave & created a Health & Safety committee
  • Prioritised local suppliers and formalised charity partnerships
  • Built an environmental strategy with targets, efficiency upgrades & recyclable packaging
  • Rolled out an ethical marketing policy

The results? While turnover has remained steady, in addition they’ve achieved:

  1. B Corp Certified
  2. Great Place to Work for the 4th year running (93% engagement!)
  3. Fantastic staff health & wellness benefits
  4. Plastic-free sample packaging
  5. Have created a suite of educational Theme Day packs for Schools across the UK. about reducing plastic usage, how to be an eco warrior and reducing food waste

Green Gourmet shows what’s possible when purpose, people and performance come together.
