Every day, animals arrive at the Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home in urgent need of care, safety and a second chance.

Among them was Poppy, a gentle and affectionate lurcher who had endured more hardship than any animal should. When she first arrived at the centre, she had broken teeth, missing fur and scars that told a heartbreaking story.

Despite her difficult past, Poppy’s loving nature never faded.

“It was truly heart-breaking to see Poppy’s scarred body when she first arrived, but a real testament to her bravery and strength to see how kind and loving she remained,” said Natasha, Animal Care Assistant.

“I am so happy that Poppy found her way here and is finally experiencing the care, comfort and kindness every dog deserves.”

Thanks to the care she received, Poppy was given urgent veterinary treatment, time to heal and the chance to find a loving new family.
