Grundon Waste Management has been operating for more than 95 years and has grown into one of the UK’s leading commercial waste and recycling companies. The company provides waste collection, recycling and disposal services for more than 15,000 businesses and organisations, with a strong focus on helping customers reduce waste, increase recycling rates and meet sustainability targets. Grundon says its aim is to provide cost-effective and environmentally responsible waste management solutions while supporting businesses in achieving their environmental goals.
The company’s latest innovation involves the introduction of Bigbelly smart bins, which were recently trialled in partnership with Silverstone. According to Grundon, the solar-powered bins can hold up to six times more waste than traditional bins thanks to built-in compaction technology. They also feature fill-level sensors, GPS tracking and cloud-based monitoring systems that alert operational teams when collections are needed, helping to prevent overflowing bins and improve efficiency.
Grundon says initiatives such as the Bigbelly bins form part of its wider commitment to sustainability and innovation. By reducing unnecessary collections and improving waste management efficiency, the technology has the potential to help businesses lower operational costs while supporting recycling and environmental targets. The company regularly works with customers to improve recycling performance, reduce waste disposal costs and develop more sustainable waste management practices.
