YMCA Cheltenham Joins Forces with Gloucestershire Homes and Communities Partnership

We are thrilled to announce that YMCA Cheltenham has joined the Gloucestershire Homes and Communities Partnership (GHCP), a pioneering group of affordable housing providers dedicated to reducing energy bills and carbon emissions for families across Gloucestershire. This collaboration represents a significant step forward as we work alongside our partners to create a sustainable and affordable future for our community.

A Commitment to Sustainability and Affordability

Over the next three years, more than £30 million will be invested in making over 35,000 homes across the county more environmentally friendly and cost-effective to run. This ambitious initiative underscores our shared commitment to both environmental stewardship and financial savings for Gloucestershire families.

Hayley Selway, Chief Executive Officer of Two Rivers Housing and Co-Chair of the GHCP, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “It’s fantastic to see this level of investment from across the partnership. It proves that we’re not only serious about protecting our environment, but we’re committed to saving Gloucestershire families money and making their homes more comfortable and energy efficient.”

Strategic Investments for a Greener Future

In the upcoming financial year, GHCP members are set to invest over £22 million in energy efficiency improvements. These funds will be allocated to various projects, including rooftop solar panels, better insulation, and low-carbon heating systems. Additionally, the partnership aims to boost training pathways for green jobs, creating opportunities for local communities.

Some of the significant investments include:

  • Stroud District Council: £6.3 million
  • Two Rivers Housing: £4.5 million
  • Bromford Flagship: £3.4 million
  • Cheltenham Borough Council Housing Services: £3.07 million
  • Gloucester City Homes: £2.66 million
  • Rooftop Housing Group: £2.5 million

We are proud to be part of this transformative journey and look forward to the positive impact our combined efforts will have on the community and the environment.
