Hundreds of people from across the local community came together for a fantastic Community Day organised by First Thought Care Services, creating a fun-filled day for children, families and the people they support.
Despite the scorching summer heat, the event was a huge success, with families enjoying a packed programme of activities, entertainment and refreshments — all provided free of charge.
There was something for everyone, including colourful stalls, music, dancing, raffles, games, plenty of food and drink, and an impressive selection of inflatable attractions, including bouncy castles, slides and football-themed activities. The atmosphere was full of laughter, smiles and community spirit throughout the day.
C2S popped down to capture some photographs and saw first-hand the incredible effort that goes into creating an event like this. The dedication of the First Thought Care Services team was clear to see, with staff and volunteers working tirelessly to make sure everyone had a wonderful day.
More importantly, the event provided a glimpse into the vital work First Thought Care Services carries out every day in supporting children and adults living with severe disabilities, as well as the families who rely on their care and support.
Providing safe, stimulating and enjoyable environments is an important part of that work. However, because of the complex needs of some of the children and adults they support, everyday items can become damaged or worn out much more quickly than they might in other settings.
The organisation is therefore always grateful for donations and support. Items such as sofas and other furniture, painting and craft materials, musical instruments and guitars, children’s books, toys and other resources can make a real difference.
These donations help create welcoming spaces, provide opportunities for creativity and learning, and — most importantly — help keep spirits high.
