Gloucestershire-based B Corp, When in Rome, is breaking barriers in supply chains to reduce environmental impact, and it’s inspiring to see.
Over the past 2 years, I’ve loved supporting them on their B Corp journey – helping navigate the verification process and identify ways to boost their sustainability impact. They successfully certified in October 2023 🥳
Their vision is clear: “for a future where wine can continue to thrive. By embracing sustainable innovation in packaging and viticulture, we can help secure a future for the wine industry whilst enhancing dining, social connections and cultural traditions” – yes, that includes their innovative paper bottles!
From October 2023 to October 2024, they made major strides to green their supply chain:
👏 Cut carbon footprint by 10% across their range by moving production closer to home
💥 Reduced transport miles by over 19,000 – swapping global trips for shorter, local routes
🤝 Shared their sustainable packaging know-how through the Ocado Roots community, helping others make supply chains greener
And there’s more to celebrate:
🥳 Finalists in The Grocer Gold Awards 2024 for their paper bottle launch at Sainsbury’s
💫 Named a Blue Earth Summit BE100 company for championing sustainability in wine
🙋 Partnering with Not Impossible to open doors for local young talent
By tackling supply chain challenges head-on, When in Rome proves that environmental impact and innovation can go hand-in-hand, showing the industry what’s possible when barriers are broken.
