Business transformation specialist Commercial has achieved its second consecutive Platinum rating from global sustainability assessment platform EcoVadis as it sets out a new package of carbon reduction targets.
The Platinum rating places the business in the top 1% of organisations assessed by EcoVadis, while the new carbon reduction targets are based on a robust 2024-25 emissions baseline developed with newly appointed carbon accountants.
Commercial’s overall EcoVadis score has increased from 84 to 90 out of 100 year-on-year. The assessment covers performance across four areas: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Scores for the quality of reporting improved across all areas, reflecting Commercial’s wider focus on strengthening the quality, transparency and consistency of data used to measure and manage sustainability performance.
The business is now targeting an absolute emissions reduction of at least 90% by 2045, five years ahead of the UK’s 2050 net-zero target, with residual emissions neutralised through permanent carbon removals. Interim targets for 2029-30 include reducing combined absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 80% and absolute Scope 3 emissions from the use of sold products by 21% against the 2024-25 baseline.
Simone Hindmarch, Co-Founder and MD of Commercial, says EcoVadis is a valuable independent measure of sustainability progress, but the business is deliberately raising the bar even further:
“Commercial’s sustainability journey is entering a more rigorous phase, based on better data. We now have a more accurate picture of the scale and sources of our emissions, and we’ve used this to set ambitious but credible targets. We’re so pleased to receive EcoVadis Platinum again, but it’s not a reason to stand still. We have a responsibility to keep pushing for better sustainability performance alongside business growth.”
More details on these developments are set out in Commercial’s 2025-26 Sustainability Report Our World, Our Responsibility.

The report also covers further work to embed ESG responsibility across different parts of the organisation.
Together, these measures are intended to strengthen the way sustainability priorities are identified, owned and acted on ahead of the launch of Commercial’s new sustainability strategy in the autumn.
