Fresh from being named Medium Business of the Year at the C2S Business Awards 2026, Gloucester based Hewer Facilities Management has announced a strategic evolution of its leadership team as the award-winning business prepares for its next stage of growth. Hewer, which is celebrating more than 60 years in business, has appointed Stuart Hesk as Managing Director, while Ian Haughton takes on the newly created role of Commercial Director, further strengthening the company’s leadership structure as it continues to invest in innovation, people and sustainable growth.

The appointments mark an important step in Hewer’s long-term succession planning and reflect the company’s commitment to developing leadership from within while building a strong platform for future success. The announcement comes at an exciting time for the business, following a period of sustained growth, investment and transformation. Since the successful management buyout in 2024, Hewer has continued to strengthen its service offering, expand its capabilities and invest in its people, while maintaining the family values and culture that have defined the business since it was founded in Gloucester in 1965.

Building for the Future

Commenting on his new role, Ian Haughton said:

“I am delighted to be taking on the role of Commercial Director as part of our long-term succession planning. This new position allows me to focus on the commercial direction of the business, developing strategic opportunities, strengthening customer relationships and supporting the next stage of Hewer’s growth. We have built strong foundations over recent years and created a business that is well positioned for the future. This transition provides an opportunity to further strengthen our leadership team while ensuring we continue to invest in our people, customers and long-term ambitions. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together and look forward to continuing to support the business, our people and our future success.”

A New Generation of Leadership

Stuart Hesk paid tribute to Ian’s contribution to the business and shared his vision for Hewer’s future.

“I feel privileged by the confidence the business has shown in me with this appointment, and I am delighted to see Ian become Hewer’s first Commercial Director. This new role is a fitting reflection of the tremendous contribution he has made to the business over many years and the important role he will continue to play in helping shape our future. Ian’s leadership, commitment and vision have helped strengthen Hewer, building upon the strong foundations already in place and helping create a business that is well positioned for continued success. As I step into the role of Managing Director, my focus is simple: to build on the incredible foundations that have been created and help take Hewer to the next stage of its journey.”

Success Powered by People

While the leadership transition represents an exciting milestone for the company, Stuart was keen to emphasise that Hewer’s achievements have always been driven by the strength of its people. “The success of this business has never been about one individual. It has always been about the people who make up Hewer. Every engineer, electrician, plumber, pipe fitter, scheduler, administrator, supervisor, manager and support colleague plays a vital role in what we achieve. The dedication, professionalism and hard work demonstrated every day are the true reasons for our success. We are fortunate to have an exceptional team of talented, knowledgeable and committed people across every part of the organisation. That depth of skill, experience and passion is one of Hewer’s greatest strengths. My responsibility is not simply to lead the business, but to support our people, create opportunities for growth, remove barriers where I can and help every individual and department reach their full potential. I want Hewer to continue setting standards within our industry; a company that our customers trust, our partners respect and, most importantly, one that every employee is proud to be part of.”

Positioned for Continued Growth

The strengthened leadership structure reflects Hewer’s confidence in the future and its ambition to continue growing while remaining true to its purpose of “Taking Care of Homes and Businesses.” The company has invested significantly in people, innovation, governance, systems and renewable technologies in recent years, creating a resilient and scalable platform for long-term success. Looking ahead, Hewer plans to continue investing in its people, apprenticeships, service innovation and sustainable technologies while creating new opportunities for customers, employees and communities across the Southwest and Midlands.

Supporting both Ian and Stuart throughout this transition will be Simon Hewer, who will continue in his role as Chief Executive Officer, providing strategic leadership and guidance as the business enters this exciting new chapter.

Simon Hewer said:

“This announcement represents an exciting milestone in Hewer’s journey. Stuart and Ian have both played key roles in the success of the business, and this new leadership structure positions us perfectly for the future. We have an exceptional team, a strong culture and ambitious plans for growth. I am incredibly excited about what lies ahead and confident that Hewer is well placed to continue building on its success for many years to come.”

With a strengthened leadership team, award-winning performance and a clear vision for the future, Hewer is entering its next chapter with confidence. As the business celebrates more than 60 years of serving homes and businesses, its focus remains the same: investing in people, delivering exceptional customer service and building a company that future generations can be proud of.
