♻️ Rethinking Value…

It’s often the simplest conversations that stay with you.

This week, we spent time with Prosperity Care talking about something many businesses will recognise—redundant IT equipment. Laptops, screens, tech that has reached the end of its life in one organisation… but still has real value elsewhere.

And it got us thinking.

Because this isn’t a small issue.
In the UK, we generate around 1.6–2 million tonnes of electronic waste every year, yet only around 30–50% is properly recycled.

At the same time, millions of devices are sitting unused—11.7 million laptops alone could be reused or recycled.

So this isn’t just about waste.
It’s about missed opportunity.

What one business no longer needs could support:
• a young person into education
• a charity delivering vital services
• or someone accessing opportunities they wouldn’t otherwise have

That’s where the power of community comes in.

One conversation → one idea → one opportunity → real impact.

At C2S, we talk a lot about growth.
But growth isn’t just about scale—it’s about impact, responsibility, and thinking differently about what we already have.

So perhaps this is a gentle nudge for all of us:

Before we dispose of something…
Before we write it off…

Could it be valuable to someone else?

🔧 Where can you start?

If this has sparked a thought, there are some great ways to take action:

  • IT recycling & secure disposal: companies like Printwaste and Grundon (zero-to-landfill approach)
  • Redistribution platforms: ITSA Digital Trust (supporting charities and education)
  • Community sharing: platforms like OLIO helping redistribute unused items locally
  • Your own network: often the quickest impact comes from simply asking within your community

👉 And we’d love to hear from you—
Who do you use? What’s working well? Who should we be connecting into this conversation?

Because when we join the dots across our community, even the smallest actions can create something much bigger.
