Event details

Get ready for an inspiring and insightful visit to Grundon Waste Management, the UK’s largest family-owned waste and environmental services company. Founded in 1929, this remarkable business has been led by the Grundon family for almost a century, evolving from a small haulage and aggregates business into an industry pioneer. Along the way they have introduced transformative innovations — from bringing the wheelie bin to the UK in the 1980s to building advanced recycling and energy-from-waste facilities that generate clean power from waste streams.

Sustainability is at the heart of everything they do. Grundon has long measured and reduced carbon emissions, operates a CarbonNeutral® certified fleet, and is now integrating AI and cutting-edge technology into its operations to improve quality, productivity and environmental outcomes.

This visit will be a unique opportunity to hear first-hand about their sustainability strategy and journey, see innovation in action, and gain insight into how one of the UK’s most successful family businesses continues to lead, adapt and inspire. Join us for an event that promises to be both enlightening and motivational — perfect for anyone interested in sustainability, innovation, and organisational excellence.

    • Welcome & Networking: An opportunity to connect with sustainability professionals and local businesses.
    • Presentations & Discussions: Insight into our sustainability initiatives, social value practices, and waste management innovations.
    • Facility Tour: A guided tour of our operations, showcasing how we sort and process recyclables and turn non-recyclable waste into energy.

Important Safety Information for the Tour:

  • Long sleeves are required (a jacket or cardigan is fine).
  • Flat shoes only – the flooring is grated, and heels could get stuck.
  • We will provide hi-vis, hard hats, gloves, and safety glasses. If attendees have their own PPE, they are welcome to bring it.
