Max Wilkinson MP, Liberal Democrat Home Affairs Spokesperson and Member of Parliament for Cheltenham

Max was elected back in July 2024 with a majority of over 7,000 votes. Before entering Westminster, Max served as a Cheltenham Borough councillor for over a decade, putting affordable housing at the heart of his work — campaigns which led to a £180 million housing investment scheme for the town.

He also served as Cheltenham’s Cabinet Member for Climate Change, leading on the Climate Change Supplementary Planning Document and introducing tough new planning rules to get a better deal from developers. In Parliament, Max has continued to champion the built environment, presenting the New Homes (Solar Generation) Bill — the Sunshine Bill — which would require solar panels on all new build homes, receiving a positive government response.

He also lobbied successfully for £20 million in funding for Cheltenham’s Golden Valley development and more recently was promoted to the role of Liberal Democrat Home Affairs Spokesperson, joining Sir Ed Davey’s senior frontbench team.

Max is a passionate advocate for this town, for sensible planning and for a built environment that works for everyone and we look forward to hearing more bout the plans for growth and development for the town and county and insights into how devolution will impact on poeple and businesses.
