Alan Muskett has spent most of his life immersed in the world of chocolate, working for a major global food manufacturer until the age of 50. After experiencing burnout brought on by his own struggles with anxiety, he chose to redirect his life toward something he cared about even more—helping others overcome similar challenges. This journey inspired him to write a book focused on preventing burnout, a syndrome affecting an ever-growing number of people in the modern world. Though new to being a published author, Alan has long enjoyed writing and is currently working on a contemporary story woven with themes of mindfulness, drawing inspiration from works like The Alchemist. For him, writing is both creative expression and an important part of his personal wellbeing.
Today, Alan dedicates much of his time to teaching mindfulness, practicing hypnotherapy, and coaching leaders on overcoming impostor syndrome—another key indicator of burnout. A lifelong reader, he finds deep joy in the stillness of being alone with a good book, and counts Eckhart Tolle, Gabor Maté, Jon Kabat-Zinn, and Mark Williams among his favourite authors in the wellbeing space. Beyond his professional and literary pursuits, Alan enjoys a wide range of hobbies including pencil drawing, golf, hiking, guitar, and most recently, darts—interests that keep him grounded, creative, and connected to the simple pleasures of life.
