Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity for an apprentice dental nurse to join our friendly dental practice. We would love you to join us as an apprentice dental nurse and start your exciting career in dental nursing. You will greet and care for all patients in a polite and courteous manner at all times.

 

Annual wage – £9,984 a year
The National minimum wage is the lowest amount that an employer can offer and so this is the lowest wage expectation. The pay may be negotiated and may rise after a probation period has been successfully completed.
Training course – Dental nurse (integrated) (level 3)
Hours – Monday and Tuesday, 8.30am – 5.30pm. Wednesday and Thursday, 8.30am – 7.30pm.
Friday, 8.30am – 1.30pm.
Saturday, 8.30am – 3.00pm.
Exact shift patterns will be confirmed with the apprentice.

Work:

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

 

What you’ll do at work:

The role of a Dental Nurse is to assist the dentist with all clinical aspects of the surgery.

 

This includes but is not limited to:

– Greeting and caring for all patients in a polite and courteous manner at all times
– Work closely with the dentist in a professional and appropriate manner
– Provide chair-side assistance during all dental procedures
– Update computer records and taking notes
– Cleaning surgeries to a high level, maintaining strict cross-infection controls
– Preparing instruments and materials during treatments
– You will be earning whilst learning during your apprenticeship. The dental practice will give you all of the practical knowledge you will need in order to qualify as a dental nurse and the training provider (Harriet Ellis) will teach you all of the theory side.

Training:

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Your training plan:

The Level 3 Dental Nurse Apprenticeship offers employment within a dental practice with an accompanying assessment and skills development programme. It will develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours of the learner to operate competently in all aspects of clinical responsibilities.

It will also provide you with the relevant qualification to apply for professional registration as a dental nurse to the General Dental Council (GDC).

Your study will be online based with weekly teaching sessions and off-the-job training given to you and paid for by your employer

– Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. They can adjust the apprenticeship to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements:

You will need to have a keen interest in becoming a dental nurse and not be put off by the sight of blood. You will be required to have a DBS check and be vaccinated for Hepatitis B.
